Zadok Yiftach lives in Mitzpe Aviv – a settlement in the regional council of Misgav in the Western Galilee. He is married to Lea and is the father of 4 children.
The family came to Mitzpe Aviv from the center in 1981 and was one of the 7 families that founded the Mitzpe.
Zadok Graduated from a trade school and when he came with his family to Mitzpe Aviv, he was the first there to found a workshop where he worked as a blacksmith. His workshop was involved in setting the foundation for national projects both in the area and in Israel in general.
However, as the phrase goes "many are the thoughts in the heart of man but the will of G-d prevails" (King David), although he had plans to keep his metal workshop, Zadok found himself working in the community security field for the Mitzpe as well as for the council, where he showed great achievements and success.
Throughout the years he felt the flame of creation burning slowly inside him and for the past few years this flame grew and expanded when Zadok realized his old dream and began to learn the secrets of glassworks.
As time went by, Zadok Yiftach developed and perfected unique techniques for combination and creation – which manifest in the artistry created at the Hoshen Studio/Gallery in Mitzpe Aviv.
This artist and artisan uses a vast variety of raw materials. Each matter has its unique magic, and the art of fusing and combining them together begets artistry which is spectacular to look at and uplifting to the spirit.
Out of the desire to contribute, even a humble contribution, to the environment, Hoshen Studio & Gallery has made it a matter of principle to recycle used products and commodities and use them as raw material, thus doing every day for a cleaner, prettier world for the generations to come.
Glass as a matter is especially magical and spectacular. Contrary to its image as a hard cold matter, glass gives itself freely in the hands of the artisan, enabling him to truly let his imagination fly while creating his art works.
While there are many techniques in glass artistry, Zadok chose to learn Fusing and Slumping, in which techniques glass is heated in a special oven until it reaches temperatures as high as 1000˚c (1832˚F).
* Realizing my desire to create artistry by recycling old and used products that were meant to be thrown as garbage; Products like bottles, jars, leftover glass from glaziers, glass from old windows, glasses from old solar panels, pots, pans etc.
* Combining the art works with other raw materials such as iron, copper, stone and wood.
* A variety of options to create useful and other art works and to let the imagination run free with it."
Enjoy.
